I just saw for the first time Kim Collingsworth on the Steinway & Sons
piano as I was watching one of the Gaither shows. It was a medley. She's
wearing a white top and a brown skirt. The stage is mostly black and has
a geometric design on it. The "walls" are black with what looks like
purple stars and there are large light fixtures hanging from the ceiling.

One of the songs in the medley I recognize as "When the Saints Go Marching
In" and I'm thoroughly impressed. I thought, "Wow, she's a female Anthony
Burger."

Sorry to inform you but she is WAY better than Anthony was. Kim never hits a
wrong note.

I was going to say that I thought she might be better than he was, but
I've only seen her play once. That said, I think she did miss a note or
two on the recording I saw, but then ... is it a wrong note, or is it a
style they were using? Sometimes players will hit a flat or sharp note to
add a style that actually works. I've seen them do it multiple times, but
then there have also been instances where Anthony seemed to accidentally
hit the wrong key. I just watched it again and I think she definitely had
a little snafu where she accidentally hit two keys at once when jiggling
her fingers up the keys.

If you have the video clip I'm talking about, I started it from the
fade-in from a commercial where a "Joy In My Heart" graphic displayed.
From the blank, black screen, while the time index is at 1:54, she seems
to hit two keys at once and it doesn't sound right within the context of
the piece. If you don't have the video, I posted a six-second snippet
here and the "error" happens during 0:04.

Or a direct link to the 1.5 megabyte XVID video file:

Or if you don't have that codec, this is MPEG1 which should play easily at
least on any Windows system since Windows comes with a codec that'll
decode MPEG1 files. It's 847k:

Anyway, I'm not saying she isn't fantastic. I'm sure an elitist,
classical purist would say she sounds like an infant banging on a Fisher
Price toy piano, but what do they know? They're too hung up feeling
superior to everyone else just because they like classical music instead
of really good, toe-tapping, hand-clapping sing-along songs that are fun
to listen to and everyone can sing.
