Two thousand years ago you sent your son

You wanted us to understand

That who so ever would believe in him

Would be safe in his hands

(Chours) With three rusty nails and an old dogwood tree

The sacrifice was made for you and me

We were afraid to say that he was the one

What have we done to your son

Oh how it hurts when someone laughs at you

Their words can cut you like a knife

Just think of all the shame we put him through

Guess he gave more than his life

(Chours)

Well we know not what we do

We know not what we say

We'll never know the price he paid to take our sins away

(Chours)

Here is another one:

Carpenter's Son
Words and Music by W. Gregory Thompson/ASCAP
Copyright 2001 / All Rights Reserved

The people / who knew Him / liked Him just fine

Not knowing / this same Man made / the moon and stars shine

They thought Him / so simple / just a carpenter's son

They couldn't see / the miracle / Jesus would become

CHORUS

For He used three rusty nails// and two pieces of wood

To build / one bridge up to Heaven

This carpenter's son / He was God's chosen One

Building / salvation / for me

He stood in / the temple / preaching the Word

But they / wouldn't listen / to the voice that they heard

They chose to / reject one / so common as He

Never knowing / the work He's do / on Calvary's tree

REPEAT CHORUS

Oh, in / the cross / in / the cross

He was building / salvation / for me

Thanks, Paul, those look like good ones but not the one I'm looking for.
The first verse is "He came from Gallilee, a carpenter by trade"
Thanks again, I sure appreciate it.

This is not the one that you are looking for, but I thought I would
share my memory of JD Sumner and the Stamps doing the recitation of "The
Three Rusty Nails" about 35 years ago. As I read those lines, I could
picture JD speaking them in his low slow voice. It really touched me
then, and it did again just now. Wow, what an Easter Story.

I have the lyrics....

Three Rusty Nails

He came from Galilee, Carpenter by trade
Came to build His Father's church on plans they had made
His destiny was Calvary, His mission would not fail
He would build this church on a rugged cross
With three rusty nails.

Chorus
This church is still standing and it will never fall
Blood stained its foundation and faith put up its walls
Though the world may come against it
They will not prevail
He built this church on a rugged cross
And three rusty nails.

Bricks and stones themselves alone
Aren't everything it takes
To build a church that will stand so strong
When this old world begins to shake
Fool may build his buildings tall, but it will be so frail
Compared to this church that Jesus built
With three old rusty nails.

(Verse 1)
He came from Galilee, carpenter by trade,
Came to build His Father's church, on plans, that they had made.
His destinity was calvary, His mission would not fail,
He would build His church, on a rugged cross, and three old rusty nails.

(Chorus).....
This church is still standing, and it will never fall,
Bloodstain it's foundation, and faith put up it walls,
Though the world, may come against it, they will not prevail,
He built, this church, on a rugged cross, and three old rusty nails.

(Verse 2)
Bricks and stones, themselves alone, aren't everything it takes,
To build a church, that will stand so strong, when this old world begins to shake.
A fool may build his building tall, but it will be so frail,
Compared to this church Jesus build, with three old rusty nails.
I know that this church is still standing......(Then rest of chorus)
(Coda)..... Well, He build, this church, on a rugged cross, and three old rusty nails.
