Post by g***@yahoo.comI saw Gold City here in town at a church on a Thursday night. Great
concert. It's a shame that Steve Ladd is leaving. He's at the top of
his game and Gold City has a great sound right now.
Who did you see at your last concert?
I attended a Dove Brothers concert last Saturday. Here's the report I wrote
that same night:
"I saw the Dove Brothers tonight in Chesnee, SC at the Gospel Music Center.
They sang most (possibly all) of the songs they sang when I saw them last
Tuesday in Asheville, NC. Tonight, they were the only group on the bill, so
they had more time. They included their best known crowd-pleasers: "I Can
Pray," "Didn't It Rain," "Get Away Jordan," and "Lonesome Road." The concert
closed with "Here Comes The King," which is one of the songs from their
Mosie Lister tribute recording. They aren't staging any songs from their
soon-to-be-released CD yet.
The entire group sounded great tonight. David Hester in particular was in
excellent form. He wasn't merely hitting his low notes, he was pounding them
and making it look easy. The sound system was dialed in and balanced so that
every part could be distinguished clearly.
The Gospel Music Center is a concrete block building with a concert space
that measures roughly 30 feet wide and 60 feet long. The seating is partly
pews and partly chairs. The 150 people or so who attended made the room look
full, but there was enough space that another 75 or so could have squeezed
in easily. A concert is held at this venue every Saturday night, mostly
featuring regional talent. The Saturday night tradition has been going on
for at least 20 years. I remember performing there when I was in a group
called Share during the late 1980s.
Judy Brannin (a lady many of you may know as Ms. Judy from various message
boards) along with a couple named Jeff and Kim Walker currently are in
charge of scheduling events at the Gospel Music Center every Saturday as
well as additional events when groups are available.
(Also, if you happen to know Judy, you probably know she was recently in the
hospital. She was at the concert tonight, but she's still moving slow. Pray
for her continued healing.)"
