Post by Michael StevensPaula White is my favorite TV preacher and she is a woman.
And where in the Bible does it mention ordaining women as preachers?
Women can speak but should not preach.
Yeah.... Let's keep them barefoot and pregnant. God forbid they could
ever vote. We'll keep them in the nursery, let them rock the babies,
but for goodness sake, don't let them utter a word that might lead
someone to Jesus. Since they don't posess a p***s, they aren't
suitable to proclaim the word of God.
. . . . and for those of you that don't understand and appreciate
sarcasm, don't even attempt to respond to my comment.
Hey, it's still this way in Iraq and Iran, and look what a wonderful place
that is!!! Heaven on earth I'd say.
You're right, let's never give consideration to the fact that the Bible is
almost exclusively male dominant... but of course, that has "nothing" to do
with how society was at that time - rather a literal translation which
SURELY must be how God wants it!!!!
And as you said, if you "miss my sarcasm'..... lol

OK, I'm not gonna argue, but I do want to make a point. Nobody is even
attempting to answer Paul's question except for James Moore. Where in
the Bible does it mention ordaining women as preachers? Instead of
trying to prove Paul(both Slopak and the Apostle) wrong from
Scripture, I see some of you building a straw men of sarcasm. Women's
role in society is not the issue raised.
I'm a Kentucky Wildcats basketball fan. Let's say that I go to Coach
Gillispie and tell him that I want to play center for the Cats next
year and Billy says that chubby, short 38 year olds need not apply. I
don't meet his qualifications. Coach decides who does what on his team
and he says I can't play center. He didn't say that I can't be his
assistant coach, director of basketball operations or equipment
manager. He didn't say that I couldn't be President of the University
or athletic director(aka his bosses). For that matter, he didn't say
that I couldn't vote, leave the house or wear shoes. He didn't say
that that I was a second class citizen. I wrongfully might infer those
things, but all that he said is that I didn't meet his qualifications
to play center for his basketball team.
I think some of you are inferring that those of us who don't think
that the Bible teaches the ordination of women feel that women are to
be subservient. I can only speak for myself; I'm not going to make
snap judgements about anyone else based on one newsgroup post. No, I
would not be a member of a church with a female pastor. On the other
hand, I have worked with female co-workers and for female supervisors.
I have voted for female candiates at all levels of government. Several
of my best teachers and college professors have been female. Just
because someone isn't qualified to pastor or preach doesn't make them
subhuman. I'm not qualified to be ordained at this point in my life,
so I certainly wouldn't say that.
Please don't judge somebody as a caveman because of one of their
Bible doctrines. There are some people with my position who regard
women as personal property. I'm not one of them and I find that
attitude despicable. But I'm only responsible for and only speak for
myself. I also know many wonderful Christians who disagree with me,
but they are still my friends.
That's all I'm saying about the subject.
